Kassandra Cain

Occupational Therapist

My name is Kassandra Cain, and I am an Occupational Therapist with Wakai Waian Healing.

I was born in Brisbane and have lived in different parts of Queensland over the years. I currently live in Gympie, on Gubbi Gubbi Country, just north of the Sunshine Coast. Before becoming an Occupational Therapist, I worked in finance and insurance, but I always knew that was not where my heart truly was.

Occupational Therapy had been a long-held goal for me, however family and work commitments meant it was something I put aside for many years. About five years ago, I realised that if I did not pursue it then, I never would. I decided to follow my lifelong passion and retrain as an OT, driven by a strong desire to help people and make a meaningful difference in their lives.

I have spent the past four years working in aged care, an area I have genuinely loved, supporting people to maintain independence and quality of life. After completing my Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (Honours) at the University of the Sunshine Coast, I felt ready to broaden my experience and work across the full scope of Occupational Therapy, supporting people to achieve their goals and live the lives they want to live.

I was drawn to Wakai Waian Healing after coming across a role that immediately resonated with me. The organisation’s values, purpose, and approach to care aligned strongly with my own. After learning more about Wakai Waian Healing and speaking with the team, I felt a strong sense that this was where I was meant to be. I was particularly inspired by the organisation’s story, its focus on continual growth, and the way it places people, culture, and community at the centre of care.

I am excited to be part of the Wakai Waian Healing team and to continue learning and growing as an Occupational Therapist. I look forward to working alongside community, supporting people wherever I can, and contributing in a way that is respectful, compassionate, and grounded in genuine care.
