Stefan Dellinger

Occupational Therapist

I am a graduate Occupational Therapist with a strong interest in mental health, cultural safety and supporting people to participate fully in everyday life.

I was born in London and raised in Portugal, where I grew up with a strong connection to community, outdoor life and wellbeing. I later lived and worked in the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia, experiences that have shaped my adaptability and respect for diverse cultures and ways of living.

Before studying occupational therapy, I completed a degree in business and worked in career development and youth mental health, including with Headspace. Through this work, and alongside my partner who is also an Occupational Therapist, I realised that occupational therapy aligned deeply with my values. I was drawn to its practical, holistic focus on helping people engage in meaningful activities such as work, study, relationships and daily routines.

I completed my Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (Honours) on the Sunshine Coast, graduating in December 2025. My honours research focused on cultural safety, exploring how prepared occupational therapy students feel to work respectfully and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This research strengthened my commitment to culturally safe practice and informed my decision to work within an Indigenous-led health organisation.

At Wakai Waian Healing, I am motivated to continue learning, to practise with humility and respect, and to support people in ways that honour their culture, goals and lived experience. I believe that meaningful participation is central to wellbeing, and I am committed to walking alongside people as they build confidence, independence and connection in their lives.
