I am a Mental Health Social Worker with more than 16 years of experience supporting children, young people and families experiencing mental health challenges, developmental difficulties and complex trauma.
My passion for social work comes from a lifelong commitment to social justice, human rights and helping people feel heard, understood and supported. I believe healing begins with connection, compassion and understanding each person’s unique experiences, relationships and circumstances.
My therapeutic approach draws on family therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), emotionally focused therapy, somatic approaches, expressive therapies and mindfulness. I particularly enjoy working with children, teenagers and families, helping them navigate challenges, strengthen relationships and build confidence in themselves.
I hold a Bachelor of Social Work and a Master’s degree in Guidance and Counselling from James Cook University. I spent four wonderful years living and working on Thursday Island, where I completed much of my studies and undertook my clinical placement in Child and Youth Mental Health under the guidance of Aunty Ivy Trevelyan. This experience deepened my appreciation of the importance of culture, community and connection in supporting wellbeing.
Now based on the Sunshine Coast, I am delighted to be joining Wakai Waian Healing. I look forward to contributing to an organisation that values culturally responsive, person-centred care and creating a safe, welcoming space where people feel respected, empowered and supported on their healing journey.
