I was born and raised in Rockhampton and am a proud Aboriginal woman with family connections to the Narungga people of South Australia. Like many Aboriginal families, some of my cultural history has been lost over generations, and I’m looking forward to continuing that journey of reconnecting with my culture while working at Wakai Waian Healing.
I recently began my Master of Clinical Psychology after completing my undergraduate studies. My interests are centred around supporting children, understanding trauma and intergenerational trauma, and working with neurodevelopmental conditions such as autism and ADHD. I love learning and I’m excited to continue developing my clinical skills alongside such an experienced and culturally grounded team.
I chose Wakai Waian Healing because I wanted to work somewhere that combines clinical excellence with genuine community connection. Even in my first few days, I realised how much practical knowledge and real-world experience the team shares. Being part of an organisation that is trauma-informed, culturally safe and committed to holistic care has already strengthened my passion for psychology.
My passion for this work also comes from growing up in a foster family. My parents have cared for many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children over the years, and those experiences shaped my understanding of resilience, healing and the importance of providing safe, supportive environments. As I continue my own journey in psychology, I hope to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children, young people and families.
