My name is Cadence Lee, and I am a proud South Sea Islander and Yidinji woman. After graduating from The Cathedral College, I felt a strong calling to pursue psychology—especially in the area of Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander mental health. I’ve always been fascinated by how the mind works, how behaviour can be understood, and how psychology can create real change in people’s lives.

As I continued learning, I came to understand just how important mental health is, and how deeply I wanted to dedicate myself to helping others. I am now in my first year of a Bachelor of Psychological Science at CQU, working toward my goal of becoming a child psychologist so I can support the emotional well-being of Indigenous children in particular.

Working with Wakai Waian Healing is an incredible opportunity for me. It allows me to gain practical experience, learn from community, and see firsthand the vital role psychology plays in strengthening mental health in Indigenous communities. I am deeply grateful for the chance to grow, contribute, and walk this pathway.
