I joined Wakai Waian Healing because I had already seen the positive impact the organisation was having in the community. While looking for culturally appropriate counselling for a friend, I was impressed by the organisation’s strong focus on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander wellbeing and the availability of male clinicians. Seeing Wakai Waian continue to grow through its community work made me want to become part of the team.
Before joining Wakai Waian Healing, I spent four years working in medical reception across family practices in Yeppoon and Emu Park, providing support in busy healthcare environments. I also worked in recruitment, helping people find employment, which I found incredibly rewarding. Both roles strengthened my communication skills and reinforced my passion for helping others.
I genuinely enjoy making people feel welcome and supported from the moment they walk through the door. I believe kindness, empathy and a warm smile can make a real difference, particularly when people are seeking health and wellbeing support. I’m proud to be part of a team that shares those same values every day.
