I’ve lived in many places across Queensland and South Australia, but wherever I’ve been, one thing has remained constant – my passion for helping people navigate systems that often seem too complicated or difficult to access.
My background includes working across health and youth justice, where I saw first-hand how many people, particularly First Nations families, struggled to receive the support they needed because of policy, funding limitations or unnecessary red tape. I found myself constantly wanting to do more than simply work within the system. I wanted to help change it.
That’s what drew me to Wakai Waian Healing. I was inspired by the organisation’s holistic approach and its commitment to supporting people as whole individuals rather than focusing on just one aspect of their lives. It reflects everything I believe good human services should be.
I’m currently completing the final subjects of my Bachelor of Social Work and will graduate later this year. Being the first person in my family to attend university has been a journey I’m incredibly proud of, especially after leaving school before finishing high school.
While I’m enjoying my current role as Office Coordinator, I’m also excited about the future. I hope to continue growing within the organisation, supporting our clinicians and helping remove barriers that prevent people from accessing the services they need. I’m particularly interested in advocacy, systems improvement and policy work, creating practical solutions that empower both practitioners and the communities we serve.
For me, Wakai Waian Healing represents the opportunity to contribute to meaningful, lasting change, and I’m excited to be part of that journey.
